A Day In The Chapter Of An Advocate Pursuing Advocacy

Advocacy, is a noble profession and unparallel to any other profession. However, the claim of being unparallel to any other profession is discretionary as every person practicing their own profession might feel the same. This article explains in brief, boldly about being an advocate and the harsh realities around it.

As an advocate, the day starts with segregating your files, bare acts, relevant citations and enough of preparation to present your arguments/submissions to the respective Hon’ble Courts. A chance can’t be taken to miss any of the above as the consequences of the same are a burden to bear for the rest of the day. As an advocate, your day starts in being answerable/speaking/convincing/managing to multiple parties like clients, staff in the courts, clerks last but not the least is with the Hon’ble Judges in the respective Hon’ble Courts.

As an advocate, it is very important to understand the case brief with utmost clarity and the legal position involved in the same. Further, one should keep this in mind, what not to present before the Hon’ble Judge in view of securing the required/intermediate relief in the case. Once, you are back from Courts it is imperative that, you attend to your clients, take a cue into your backlogs, start preparing for next day. This might seem nothing new to many, as many in their respective professions might be doing something similar of this kind. However, the difference to an advocate is, he/she keeps facing the brunt of seniors, Hon’ble Judges, at times senior clerks, senior staff of the Hon’ble Courts till the closure of the day.

The positive and unmatched to the day of an advocate unlike to any other profession is learning curve in the span of the day, interaction with humans constantly and continuously, constant innovative methods to keep the fire in the belly burning such that the life doesn’t take a halt or dependence on others. This positive is unparallel to any other profession for one another reason is, the kind of challenges that a day gives you to solve and the real happiness it gives, as you assess/introspect at the end of the day.

Probably, it should be one reason why an advocate generally sticks to this principle of, “Nothing is agreed till everything is agreed upon”. LOVE to be an ADVOCATE, LIVE to be an ADVOCATE till the last breath of my life!!!
